Lydia’s pick for her favorite fashion snap from the past year is Courtney’s Mori-Girl-inspired Lolita outfit at the Angelic Pretty RinRin tea party event in San Francisco in April.

The Name No One Could Remember

There were quite a few Lolita-related events this past year, but the most memorable also had the most packed schedule. Fantaisies dans le Monde des Reves, co-located with Fanime 2010 in San Jose, California,  had a name that was hard to remember and even harder to pronounce. Playfully nicknamed “The Fancy French Name Event,” it ran throughout the long Memorial Day holiday and had special guests from Angelic Pretty, Chantilly, Atelier Pierrot and Kokusyoku Sumire along with local Lolita fashion designers and retailers. Events included a Miss Gothic & Lolita USA competition, a concert by Kokusyosku Sumire, fashion shows, talk shows the designers and the Magical Boutique where attendees browsed and purchased from an incredible selection of Lolita clothing.

Hot Glue, Flowers & Lace

We received lots of postive feedback on Lydia’s craft post Straw Bag and Hot Glue in which she added lace and flower embellishments to a  simple straw bag. The end result was a versatile purse for spring and summer.
